it's time for a change...
i want summer back. i want to be able to go out in the shorts and tank tops. i want to be able to go outside and bike or rollerblading or walk or jog without having to wear the big winter coat and boots.
i miss how the warm summer sun feels on your body while you lie out in it for an hour reading a book. i miss the smell of chlorine at an outdoor pool. i miss the way sand feels when it goes in between your toes while you play beach volleyball. i miss the way freshly fallen dew smells late at night at the cottage while walking around with your friends. i miss the way a freshly lit fire smells and how you sit around it with family and friends and talk about nothing important really. i miss the way hamburgers gone wrong smell when made with friends with an old barbecue and lighter fluid. i miss flip flops and sandal's, bathing suits and beech bums. i miss hot summer days and the cool summer nights breeze. i miss reading a book underneath a willow tree, while birds sings beautiful melodies and butterflies float on by. i miss picking flowers to make a flower crown. i miss church outdoors. i miss how coolers taste extra better in the summer than during any other time of the year. i miss dancing outside. i miss wasting time just sitting there enjoying all that surrounds you.
i miss it all.
i have had my fun with the winter months. i have had fun shovelling snow, while listening to the cd hot latin nights. i have enjoyed making snowballs and throwing them at people. i have had fun during all those "snow days" where school was cancelled. i have enjoyed watching though the window while snow falls ever so silently on the ground. i have had fun watching little kids make snowmen and snow angels. i have enjoyed watching the eyes of a child light up just at the sight of a fresh snowfall. i have enjoyed sitting by the fire and reading a book and listening to Pavarotti, while traveling to a new and exciting world. i loved roasting chessnuts and drinking hot chocolate. i loved decorating a christmas tree and taking out all the christmas decorations. i had fun planning a toboggoning trip with my friends, but canceling it due to lack of snow then going bowling instead. i had fun driving through my first snow storm and making it out alive, while simultaneously swerving my car and making a good recovery at that.
i enjoyed it all.
but now its time for all the snow to melt and the sun to come out and stay out. its time that the cold change to warm. its time for everything to gain life again. its time for flowers and bumble bees. its time to say farewell to all things white and cold. its good bye to snowmen and snow angels. its time for a change of seasons.
